This is truly our specialty at BDTours and we offer a trip like no other.  Unlike most operators, we do not lock into a concrete itinerary and will make every effort to adjust our trip based on changing weather conditions, our knowledge and your input. The itineraries included below lay out an initial plan but your guide will offer up additional options daily based on current conditions. With our 13 years of experience in Hokkaido not only do we know our mountains inside out, we also know what weather works best for each zone we visit. Combine this with the networked information our guides bring back from the field every day ensures that our clients (you!!) will be enjoying the best possible conditions throughout your holiday.

Hokkaido is home to a number of great hills all of which enjoy the same great powder that Niseko is renowned for. Most of these resorts are quite small so we generally only spend 1 or 2 days at each and resort hop around the island. The sheer volume and diversity offered by so many resorts is the reason why most of us at Black Diamond have remained in Hokkaido so long and getting out on the road always makes for a unique and memorable trip. Conveniently, with so many resorts, there is usually under an hour travel time from one to the next.

We generally base ourselves from Asahikawa, Furano, Sapporo or Niseko with multiple resorts within easy reach of each of these towns. This limits our hotel changes and travel time while still being able to get to a number of different areas over just a few days.

See below for a list of the packages we offer to get an idea of itineraries, pricing etc but if none of the packages is quite what you're looking for or doesn't suit your time frame, please inquire with a few details of what you are looking for and we will design a custom package tailored specifically to you.

Niseko Ski Snowboard Tour

Niseko Deluxe - 9 Day

129000Yen
(This rate available to any size group including single travellers)

The Niseko package sets you up with several days to explore the entire Niseko United area but makes sure that you don't leave Hokkaido without sampling some of her other great resorts. All up we'll end up getting of four of Hokkaido's top powder destinations.

Things start off in Niseko with our back bowls trip giving you the inside track on where to find the best slackcountry terrain at Hokkaido's biggest resort. Following this we've got an unguided day at Rusutsu resort to check out some of Hokkaido's best, open gladed skiing.

At the end of the week, we will depart Niseko stopping off at Sapporo Kokusai on the way to the big city. Our last day is at Teine Highland for one last day riding the steep and deep. After an epic day of skiing/riding, its time to take in the sights and sounds of Sapporo, sample some of the cuisine and for those up to it, take your chances with the 24 hour night life. The following morning, head out for some shopping and souvenir collecting before making your way to the airport for your flight.

Power Trip Ski Snowboarding Tours

The PowerTrip (R Rated)

10% off until Sept. 31 169000Yen
Regular 189000

Designed only for the most serious skiers and riders out there, this is the type of holiday that you go back to work to recover from. We will put as much into one week as possible and guarantee that you will be riding the deepest snow on the island all week long. With no set itinerary, we follow the snow to the best of the best over seven days.

Equipped with a full set of backcountry touring equipment, 2 vehicles and 2 certified backcountry guides the options are almost limitless. We will be able to tap every available option at all the resorts we visit including car shuttle runs off the back side of several resorts. Along the way, we can pull up to build kickers or hit some classic roadside pillow lines (see left). Following the ski days we will take you to the best restaurants, onsen's (hot springs) and of course out on the town to investigate the Japanese night life.

It is unlikely that we will spend more than one or two nights in any given hotel and expect at least some driving every day because the key to keeping up with the snow is mobility - so pack light and be prepared for plenty of early mornings... and late nights. Fortunately, our comfortable 4WD vans come equipped with CD players to keep you entertained and an ice box to keep the drinks cold.

This trip is as much up to you as it is us, so it's anybodys guess how things will unfold, but one thing is for sure - this will be one helluva'n excursion. As an added bonus, we've kept costs to a minimum in an effort to accomodate the real ski bums out there. There is no better value out there.

Power Trip Ski Snowboarding Tours

The Daisetsuzan Traverse: Mar. 22 - 25, 2012

Mega Spring Discount - 65000Yen!!
(Backcountry Gear Included)

Finish the winter with an epic traverse in Hokkaido's incredible Daisetsuzan mountain range. As the days get longer and the weather more stable, this is the time of year to head to the roof of Hokkaido in search of cold, north facing slopes still holding great snow. Starting from Asahidake resort, we'll catch Hokkaido's highest lift before donning our skins/snowshoes and climbing to the summit of Hokkaido's highest peak. From the peak, we traverse the alpine plateau separating Asahidake from Kurodake. Upon reaching the summit of Kurodake (1984 meters) we will embark on one of the longest descents possible in Hokkaido down to Sounkyo town (670 meters). Depending on our arrival time there may even be the opportunity to catch a couple more runs off the Kurodake ropeway before heading to the onsen to ease your exhausted muscles and enjoy a big buffet dinner.

On day 2 we'll continue to lap up steep powder runs within Kurodake's lifted area, giving your climbing muscles a rest but your adrenaline levels a spike. Finish the day with another great dinner and relaxing onsen in preparation for the return to Asahidake. On our final day, we will once again use the Kurodake lifts to gain some elevation before climbing to the peak of Kurodake and traversing back to Asahidake. We will finish the day with a few laps of the Asahidake ropeway (time permitting) before heading back to Sapporo, Niseko or continuing on to Tokachidake for two more incredible days in the Southern Daisetsuzan's (please inquire for details and pricing to add this onto your trip).

Please note this trip is very weather dependent as we will require clear conditions to complete the alpine traverse between the peaks of Kurodake and Asahidake. In the event of inclement weather, we can expect great powder conditions closer to the lifts so we will lap up lines within the lifted areas and do shorter hikes closer to treeline where visibility is better. We will still make sure to visit both areas, completing the traverse by vehicle if weather conditions don't allow us to do the hike.

Power Trip Ski Snowboarding Tours

The TripEnder 2 Day

from 34000Yen
incl. 2 guided ski days, 2 days lift tix, transport & 1 night accom.

After a powder filled holiday in Niseko, why not cap things off with a couple new resorts on your way to the airport. On the doorstep of the world's snowiest city, Sapporo Kokusai and Teine Highland offer access to some of Hokkaido's best fall line skiing with far less competition for the goods than Niseko.

We depart Niseko early morning on the first day of this trip and head from Niseko to Sapporo Kokusai - a tiny resort that may not look like much but what's hidden just far enough from the average punter is stuff we just can't write about online. After a day on the mountain, we head into the city to a central hotel where endless shopping, restaurants, bars and cultural sights await - you decide what to do here but remember on the second day we'll be headed to Teine Highland where an array of steep lines, chutes, cliffs (if that's what you're looking for!!) and powder await. There's a fair number of short hikes (5-15 minutes) that you'll want to make sure you have the energy for because the returns will be well worth the investment.

At the end of this day, if you have an evening flight (Teine is the closest ski hill to the airport so a full day of skiing is possible even if you fly that day) we'll make arrangements to get you directly to the airport otherwise, if you fly the following day, we'll bring you back into the city offering the opportunity to check out the town without a big ski day ahead of you. This also offers an opportunity to do a bit of shopping the following morning prior to heading to the airport for your flight. We will make arrangements for your airport transfer.
